As we age we start losing muscle at an accelerated rate. You may have noticed in your 40's that the belly fat was starting to set in, especially during peri-menopause. Well, you are not alone and you probably have tried to eat a healthy, balanced diet and kicked in some more cardio exercises. I turn to Mary Claire, MD who specializes in women's health. Her top three tips for reducing belly fat are;
1- Focus more on resistance training and less on the # on the scale. Lift heavy sh@!t.
2- Focus more on nutrition dense food rather than calorie restriction, especially fiber rich foods.
3- Less high intensity training and hard cardio and more walking. You can even consider walking with weights or a weighted vest/backpack. Walking after every meal does help lower the glucose spike
